Biography

Jean Piaget was a famous Swiss psychologist. He was born on 9 August 1896 in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Jean died on 16 September 1980 at the age of 84 in Geneva, Switzerland. He requested to be buried with his family in an unmarked grave in the Cemetery of Kings in Geneva. His full name is Jean William Fritz Piaget and well known for his work on child development. He started early education in his hometown. Then his godfather urged him to learn philosophy and logic, so he developed an interest in epistemology. He graduated from the University of Neuchatel.

After graduation, he moved from Switzerland to Paris to teach the boys at the Grange-Aux-Belles Street School. He is also a professor of different subjects like sociology, psychology, and science at the University of Neuchatel.

He married Valentine Chatenay (7 January 1899 – 3 July 1983) in 1923. Piaget is the father of 3 children. He was awarded the Erasmus Prize and the Balzan Prize in 1972 and 1979 for his social and political work.
